Travis Barker Reveals Why He Underwent Surgery After Hospital Photo With Kourtney Kardashian
Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker has explained his recent hospital stay, revealing he underwent surgery for a nerve issue after experiencing numbness.

Travis Barker has revealed the reason he recently went under the knife after sharing a photograph of himself in a hospital bed alongside his wife, Kourtney Kardashian. The Blink-182 member originally raised concerns among followers after posting pictures of himself wearing a medical gown during his stay.
Nerve Issue Prompts Surgery
Barker, 50, explained via his Instagram Story that he underwent a medical procedure following a period of physical discomfort. His arm, hand, and fingers had been experiencing numbness following a concert played the previous month. After completing a nerve test after a show, it was determined that he required a cubital tunnel release to fix the affected nerve. A cubital tunnel procedure involves releasing the tight ulnar nerve, commonly known as the funny bone, which crosses the elbow.
The musician wanted to address the condition proactively to maintain his musical performances. He stated that he wanted to get ahead of the injury and complete the procedure so he could continue playing the way he always does for a long time. Barker added that he should be recovered in a few weeks. Alongside his update, he shared a lighthearted photo of Kardashian, 47, smiling at his bedside, joking that he was not sure why his wife looked so happy about the situation. Kardashian and daughter Alabama Barker both accompanied him during the hospitalization.
History of Past Health Scares
The recent procedure adds to a series of major health events and injuries Barker has endured over the years. The musician survived a severe 2008 plane crash that claimed the lives of four of the six people on board. He sustained third-degree burns across 65 percent of his body and subsequently underwent 26 surgeries for his injuries. He later reflected on his long recovery process, noting in a 2021 interview that physical therapy left him in better physical shape than ever before.
Other medical challenges followed in later years. In June 2018, Blink-182 had to postpone a concert residency in Las Vegas after Barker developed blood clots in both arms. During that period of hospitalization, he also received diagnoses for a staph infection and cellulitis, a bacterial skin condition. More recently, in December 2025, Barker temporarily needed crutches after injuring his tibia while training for the Los Angeles Marathon, reflecting his active lifestyle as an avid runner who organizes fan runs.
With the latest procedure successfully completed, Barker anticipates a standard recovery timeline of a few weeks. Fans and followers received direct clarification regarding his health status, ensuring transparency about the routine nature of the corrective nerve surgery.
