Jenna Dewan's Fiancé Steve Kazee Responds to Dancing with the Stars Rumors
Steve Kazee has defended his fiancée Jenna Dewan against rumors regarding her chemistry with Dancing with the Stars partner Val Chmerkovskiy.

Steve Kazee has publicly addressed social media speculation surrounding his fiancée, Jenna Dewan, and her Dancing with the Stars partner, Val Chmerkovskiy. The Tony-winning actor responded directly to online commentary suggesting the dancing duo displayed romantic chemistry during a recent broadcast of the competition series.
Addressing the Online Rumors
Fans recently took to social media to post an Instagram video accusing Dewan and Chmerkovskiy of appearing too affectionate during an episode this week. The video prompted various reactions online after the dancing pair performed a rumba routine to a track by Mariah Carey. Kazee quickly stepped in via the comments section to shut down the speculation surrounding the pair's interactions on the dance floor.
Replying directly to the post, Kazee expressed his amusement and dismissed the claims made by internet commentators. He commented that individuals making the accusations had far too much time on their hands. He added that the spouses involved remained unbothered by the chatter and urged critics to cease the negative remarks. In a separate comment, the actor also defended the pronunciation of his fiancée's name and asked for respect to be shown toward both Dewan, Chmerkovskiy, and their respective partners.
Family Background and Personal Lives
Chmerkovskiy has been married to fellow Dancing with the Stars professional dancer Jenna Johnson since April 2019, and the couple shares a three-year-old son named Rome. Meanwhile, Dewan and Kazee began their relationship in October 2018. The couple shares two children together, a six-year-old son named Callum and a two-year-old daughter named Rhiannon. Dewan also shares a 13-year-old daughter named Everly with her ex-husband, Channing Tatum.
Past Criticism Over Dance Experience
This recent social media chatter is not the only controversy Dewan has encountered since joining the current season of the ABC dance competition. When her casting was first announced, some viewers questioned the fairness of her participation due to her professional background in dance. Dewan previously worked as a backup dancer for Janet Jackson and famously starred alongside Tatum in the dance drama film Step Up.
Addressing the criticism in a September interview, Dewan explained that her background did not necessarily give her an advantage in ballroom styles. She noted that she actually had to unlearn ingrained habits from her previous training because ballroom technique felt entirely foreign and required learning a brand-new skill set from scratch.
Despite the online commentary and previous casting debates, Dewan and Chmerkovskiy continue to advance in the competition. The pair remains in the running following the recent elimination of Summer House star Ciara Miller and her professional partner, Brandon Armstrong. New episodes of the program air on Tuesday nights.
