Billy Evans, the romantic and business partner of convicted Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes, recently hosted a surprise question-and-answer session on X. The impromptu online event followed the release of the documentary You Can See Everything, directed by Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim.

Opening the floor with a simple post reading "AMA," Evans added a humorous caveat that his responses needed to be "legally permissible." The session marked his first extensive comments since the film debuted last month, offering responses about specific scenes, misconceptions, and his participation in the project.

Addressing Misconceptions and Control

One of the central themes explored in the documentary is the dynamic between Evans and Holmes, with the film questioning whether Evans acts as a controlling figure or if he is an attention-seeking partner.

During the X session, Evans addressed what he considers the biggest misconception presented in the project: the notion that he controls Holmes. Writing that anyone who knows her would find the idea hilarious, Evans described her as fiercely independent, strong-willed, and his best friend. He added that they challenge each other and face the world together, noting that their closest friends would not tolerate any mistreatment.

Reactions to Specific Documentary Scenes

Evans also fielded inquiries about memorable and controversial moments from the film. When one user asked if he had ever told a lie—a direct callback to a moment in the documentary where Holmes struggled to answer the same question before replying "no"—Evans answered succinctly with "Yes."

Regarding an infamous early shot that featured him fully naked in the shower, Evans pushed back against the idea that the scene was included solely with his consent. He dismissed it as a "false narrative" and shared a link to a separate report indicating he felt violated by the sequence.

Compensation Claims and Power of Attorney

The documentary touches on several other contentious topics, including financial agreements and legal responsibilities. Filmmakers Fielder and Oppenheim previously claimed that Evans struck a deal with them and A24 to receive compensation, allegedly negotiating while Holmes stepped away to check on their children, despite Holmes telling filmmakers she was not being paid.

Evans additionally used the X session to touch upon holding power of attorney for Holmes, an arrangement established before she reported to prison, though the online discussion primarily focused on his reactions to the film's portrayal of their daily lives.

Despite the scrutiny and unflattering portrayals in You Can See Everything, Evans indicated during the session that he holds no regrets about participating in the documentary. The X AMA provides further insight into how the couple views the public project surrounding their lives following Holmes' conviction.
