Jennifer Lopez has opened up about the emotional impact of watching her twins leave home for university, describing the major family transition as devastating, sad, and scary. The star shared that the significant change marked a profound shift in her daily life as she adjusted to becoming an empty nester this autumn.

The singer and actress detailed her feelings during a video shared on her JLo Beauty Instagram account on September 26, explaining how she coped with the quiet house. Prior to her children's departure, Lopez spent the summer travelling with them through Italy, sharing highlights of their holiday with fans on social media in August.

Coping Through Daily Routines and Self Care

In her social media video, Lopez explained that maintaining familiar daily habits became essential while adjusting to life without her children at home. She noted that routines help keep her grounded while looking through baby pictures and navigating the emotional reality of an empty house.

The On the Floor singer encouraged other parents going through similar life transitions to lean into self-care and structured habits. She emphasized the importance of working out, following skincare routines, and caring for oneself while adapting to the newfound space and quiet.

Inspiration for a New Recording Project

Despite the initial sadness and tears, the emotional upheaval has unexpectedly sparked a creative renaissance for the performer. Lopez revealed that the transition prompted her to return to the recording studio to work on an entirely new album, following her 2018-to-2024 musical projects.

Describing the upcoming material, the Jenny from the Block singer believes she has written some of the best songs of her career. She characterized the new album as a very happy era featuring joyous, beautiful songs that carry just a hint of emotional depth from her recent experiences.

Reviving Old Dreams and Looking Ahead

Reflecting on the milestone, Lopez noted that while university marks a major new chapter for her children, it also represents a fresh beginning for parents. She suggested that the empty nest phase can serve as an ideal time to revive old dreams that were set aside while raising a family.

Earlier in the year, the actress expressed immense pride in her teenagers' academic achievements. Speaking to Extra in July, she shared that her children worked hard and received acceptance offers and scholarships from every college to which they applied before embarking on their higher education journey this autumn.

As Lopez balances her ongoing career in entertainment and business with her new routine as an empty nester, she continues to encourage fans facing similar family milestones to stay positive, productive, and open to the new beginnings ahead.
