Comedian James Acaster has revealed that a tense face-to-face confrontation with supermodel Jerry Hall was cut from the final broadcast of Celebrity Traitors. The 41-year-old comedian shared the behind-the-scenes detail following his memorable run on the reality television programme, where he made the unprecedented move of unmasking himself as a Traitor during a roundtable discussion.

The Unseen Clash With Jerry Hall

While fans watched a dramatic series unfold on screen, they missed a major plot twist that occurred earlier in the game. Speaking on Alan Carr’s Life’s a Beach podcast, Acaster explained that he was cornered by 70-year-old Jerry Hall before his eventual exit from the castle.

According to the Off Menu podcast co-host, the supermodel approached him directly and accused him of playing a dishonest game. Recounting the interaction, Acaster stated that Hall got right up into his face and told him directly that he was very sneaky.

Rather than denying the claim completely during the intense moment, Acaster responded by leaning into the accusation. He told listeners of the podcast that he replied to her by saying he was indeed sneaky and that it could potentially be him, prompting Hall to simply murmur a response before walking away.

Editing Decisions and the Roundtable Reveal

Despite Hall catching on to what the comedian was up to during their private exchange, programme editors ultimately decided to leave the interaction out of the final cut. As a result, viewers and the remaining Faithfuls were kept in the dark until a much later stage in the competition.

Acaster's true identity as a Traitor finally came to light during a heated roundtable discussion. After being questioned regarding the murder that led to the banishment of Ross Komp from the castle, Acaster made the voluntary admission that he was indeed a Traitor, while clarifying that he had been recruited against his will.

Embracing Unexpected Attention

Aside from the gameplay mechanics and the cut footage with Hall, Acaster also reflected on his time on the programme by discussing the unexpected public attention he received. The comedian emerged as an unlikely sex symbol throughout the series and admitted that he thoroughly enjoyed the reception.

Reflecting on the contrast with his life during the pandemic, Acaster noted that Covid lockdowns had previously left him feeling as though his career was effectively over. He described the positive reception from viewers as a surprisingly pleasant turn of events after feeling that way.

The revelation sheds light on the substantial amount of footage that is routinely left on the cutting room floor during the production of high-stakes reality competition formats like Celebrity Traitors.
